What does it cost you to reload???

I know most of us reload.  Buying new is for rich city slickers and the like.  So let's see how we do on this question:
Not counting brass and the reloading press and all the other neat "stuff," what is the actual cost to you to reload one round of your caliber?  Feel free to list all your calibers if you shoot more than one.  Be able to defend the costs to us if we feel it's too low (or too high, but we'll probably just feel for you pard).

Well I'll start.

.45 Colt-
Starline brass-$58 for 500=.1126
Hunters Supply 200gr RNFP-$85 for 2000=.0425
Winchester primers-$26 for 1000=.026
Clays powder-$18 per pound=.02

Total is just over .20 per round
Remove cost of brass- .07 per round

32 H&R
Starline brass- $55 for 500=.11
Hunters Supply 115gr RNFP- $63 for 2000= .0315
Winchester primers- $26 for 100= .026
TiteGroup powder- $17 per pound=.01

Total is just under .18 per round
Remove cost of brass- .07 per round

Does that sound about right to you folks?

Wal now since I cast my bullets from free lead the cost of them is whatever the electricity to run the pot is and a bit added to cover the lube. Can't be a penny a piece no way. Cases last nearly forever so why even worry about the cost? I've got .44 mag cases I've been loading for over 25 years and they are still doing fine. Gotta be loaded way over 100 times each. Primers down this way at gunshows are usually $20/1000 or less at times. Power depends on the load but again at gunshows I can usually pick up powder for $14-16 a pound.

Ain't no way I'm into most of my ammo deeper than a nickle a shot.

The last time I sat down and tried to figure it out I came up with 10 to 11 cents per round of 45c.

This included brass assuming 10 or 12 reloads.
I can usually get more than that but I do lose brass at matches also.

Now I am going to have to figure it out again when I get home. :-)

Whal now, lessee here, fer me 44-40s .... primers, $27 per 1000 ... lead ten cents a pound fer $2.86 per 1000 ... powder $19 a tin or $54.29 per 100, what makes it $84.15 per 1000 or $4.20 fer a box of 50 - all Canajin dollars.

Now I ain't included brass 'cause I get most of it back 'n' I ain't figgered out how long ti's gonna last yet. I also ain't figgered in depreciation, escallation, interest, incidentals, overhead, taxes, inflation, deflation, carryin charges, 'n' the price of coffee .....

I see Calamity made over here.Good to see yuh, so ta speak.                 On .45s cost runs a fraction over 3 cents. I make ma own bullets & apparently get powder & primers at a good deal. Too much haggleing I guess. :grin:  30-06 match runs a good deal more because 168gr. BTHP ARE about 14-15 $ a hundred. 9mm is about 1 1/2 cent but I don't shoot much of that anymore. Shotshells run about 2.50 - 2.75 per 25 using the best components I can get my paws on.All in all, I enjoy making my own ammo about as much as shooting it up. :-D

Had to do some figuring on mine (and I posted the orginial question!)
Primers:  <2cents each
Powder:  'bout same
bullets:  cast my own and wheel weights are free
So, I'm looking at 3 1/2 to 4 cents per shot.  Figure the brass was like the reloading press and all the rest:  a start-up cost

I figured it out a couple of years ago and came up with the same figure as Jax Orebetter for .45 Colt with a 200 gr. store bought bullet.... 7 cents a round. If you figure 10 reloads before the brass gives out, it is 9 cents per round including brass costs.

Got screwed on the last case of powder.  Bought 30#  and they charged me per can price for all of it.  Won't do business with them again.

Total                                                        = .039 ea or $3.90 per 100

Sure do get a lot of pleasure from the smoke also so I could discount this cost by the pleasure one recieves (200%) . :-D
