Any of you guys tried the Ceiner conversions available for the Glock and 1911s. If so how reliable were they and were they accurate? Were they picky about ammo selection? Likes/dislikes about them.

I have a Ciener conversion kit (one of the first produced) on a Fed Ord frame -- I built this gun myself, from partially finished parts.

It's a plinker. Nice to carry and shoot, but nothing special. It will sometimes fail to feed on rapid double-taps, and has no slide hold open feature -- two things that make it a little less than perfect for practical pistol practice.

I also have a Colt Service Ace conversion kit mounted on an M1927 Argentine -- this is the all-steel kit with the floating chamber. This combination is far more reliable, has the slide hold-open feature, and is more accurate than my Ruger MKII.

If I were in the market for another conversion kit, I'd shop around and find another Colt Service Ace -- but for most uses the Ciener is perfectly acceptable.

I asked this question on another forum a while back. I was told the Ciener was well worth the money and shooting the .22's out of a favorite handgun was a great way to practice quick draws, sight allignment and have fun for cheap. For about $200.00 they are cheaper then many new or used guns.

I have one for my 1911... its not the greatest but can be fun...it does fail to feed on occasion.
I have seen ciener 22 conversion sell on e-bay for 150.00 or so.

My Ceiner is the fixed sight model. Fortunately the rear sight is dovetailed and can be replaced with an adjustable model. The real concern is the front sight which is an intregal part of the slide. If much damage occurs to it you will have to have some machine work done to the slide to replace it. Damage should not be a problem in normal field use as a good holster should provide sufficent protection.
