Been blue water fishing out of Hatteras several times and always brought home Mahi Mahi including a 53 lb citation.  Went inshore out of Oregon Inlet and brought in a whole mess of Red Drum.

Didn't do real well out of Carolina Beach.

It really depends on the time of year you go fishing too, But Id have to say the Outerbanks produce some SUPER good  fishing because of the way the land goes out into the ocean :)
