Muskrat trapping
« on: August 04, 2004, 10:01:29 AM »
For those of you that trap muskrats, do you use bait or lures?  If so, what is your favorite bait or lure?  I have used carrots, turnips, apples and daikon radishes.  My favorite bait of them is the daikon radish.  This is an oriental radish that grows up to 18 inches long and is 2 to 3 inches in diameter.  It lasts a long time and does not discolor even after freezing.  I think the reason it is effective is because it is so white and does not discolor and the rats think it is some big cattail root!  My favorite lure is Lenon's muskrat lure, I don't know about the rats but I sure like the smell!

I am mostly a trail setter for rats. I did use lenons rat lure for a while. I did catch rats on it but the coons really seemed to love it.
