Info on longer barreled Mod. 336 in 35 Remington wanted

I have seen Mod. 336 in 30-30 with barrel length up to 26", but I have never seen barrels over 20" in 35 Remington.
Had Marlin ever made them? I would like to buy one, but with a longer than 20" barrel.

Same question for 375Win.  I would MUCH prefer older Marlin to Winchester, but if Marlin has never produced it and Winchester did, please let me know.

I don't think your gonna gain that much by having a longer barrel (especially 26 inches long) on a 35 Rem. The 35 Rem. is an "outstanding" 100-150 yard deer cartridge, be it a lever action or a pump action. When I say 100-150 yards I'm talking about "all deer", a 75 lbs. southern white-tail (or New York ) to a 350 lbs. Saskatchewan monster. The 35 Rem. is a fine "bush gun" cartridge. If you need a rifle/cartridge that is capable of 300 yard shots, you should look at a different cartridge. Same go's for the 375 Win. too. This is just "MY OPINION"

I do not hunt, nor have any tangible plans to do so (there is nothing to hunt with a rifle around Los Angeles / Orange County except for pigs on a private ranch and that's $600 with 30% success rate for a whopping 200-gross lb pig.)  Paper and cans are my prey, so bush is not my concern.  I want longer barrel for the enhanced ability to use peep sights and lesser recoil / muzzle report.

The 336A was mfg. with a 24" barrel and a 2/3 mag.  in the .35 Rem.
There was one recently on the GB (not Graybeard) auction site.  
I recently purchased one myself in the 30-30 and being a fan of the .35 I strongly considered the one on the auction but it was about $100 plus more than the 30-30 and wood was not as nice.

Marlin first offered the .35 in the 336 in 1950. It was a 24" rifle  or 20" carbine. They offered this up into the 1960's.

Hello lev.I have a such gun,Ive had it since 1962.pistal grip 2xxfancy wood.micro grove barrel 24 inch.Great gun, great shooter.Very accurate.Will shoot accurately whether reloads or factory.Hand loaded 158 cast, 200 grain remington factory ,reload 200 grain hornday or 220 speer flat nose.I have shot many many deer 1 moose and a bear with this gun.It is the best gun in the stable.And I have manyguns.Yes this has been one fine gun over the years.It is also very lucky to how every hunts with it.Anyone that has hunted with it has always got there game.Also everyone that has shouldered it and shot it can not say enoungh good about it.Yes and when im done hunting some day its going to my grandson luke.I hope he gets as much use out of it and enjoyment as it has brot me.My dad bought me this gun in 1962,he payed 100 bucks for the gun 2 boxes of cartrages and an all leather case.If you could buy that quality now days for that kind of money marlin cude not build them fast enough.After all these years this gun still looks and funtions like brand new.Hawkin50

The one I had was a 22" barrel.  I only had it for a short while but really only bought it to upgrade to 356 Win.  More and more people talked me out of the re-chamber job, so I traded it off.  It was a nice rifle, I'm not a BIG lever fan but do like my Henry 22.

The Marlin was a very well made rifle, worked smooth and was fairly accurate.  Nothing too impressive, but I only put two boxes of ammo throught it, so who knows?

Recoil was light, about like a 30-30.  I'm sure one could be re-barreled even from a 30-30 to put the longer barrel in it you want.

If these big city morons ever let us control the mountain lion population here we might get some deer back to hunt.  I'm in north LA county (Palmdale) so I know what you mean about the hunting.

The .35 Remington in any 336 rules!  Shoot any 30-30 into a wet phone book(s) then shoot a .35 Rem and see the difference!  No comparison in the exit hole. If you want more perfomance...  I recommend checking out hot loaded .35 Rem made by various companies.  But I think the .35 Rem in 20 inch barrel is just fine.! Range should be 150 yards or less.  My Marlin with Lyman Peep Sight is dead on at 25 yards, same at 50 yards, 2 1/2 inch high at 100 yards and drops exactly 11 inches at 200 yards.   Have you ever seen a deer beyond those ranges?  I haven't.  Most are seen or killed with in 65 yards.  So what is the problem?  Stick with the 20" barrel.  The .35 Remington should be better excepted than it is!!!  A little advertising of this and a few gun mag articles should give this round more justice instead of the super dooper Mag rounds.  Grandpa was right!

Picked up an old one last year.  Had the 2/3 mag and a 24" bbl and no finish but shot super.  Sent it down to Ken Kelly at Mag-an-port.  He cut it to 18", ported it, put on a Williams fire sight front and an AO ghost ring rear with a satin blue finish.  This is the slickest "woods rifle" I have ever shot!  It's a real pussycat to shoot in .35 but hits hard!  The rifle chrono's at 1900 fps but those big, 200 gr round nose slugs just hammer whatever they hit.  44 Man

I hate to disagree with you, but the Nat. Forrests north of you, Angeles National and others all contain quite a few deer.  Hard as heck to get to but they are there.

I live in north LA county (read desert) and I've hunted those hills a long time.  Like I said they're hard to get to but if you do  the 35 is the ticket.

By the way, on the HR NEF forum there one guy that experimented with a Buffalo Classic barrel (45-70, 32" long).  Had it cut to 27".  Big suprise, recoil went DOWN.  Less hang time in the barrel we figure.  Beside My 20" marlin in 35 never kicked more than a 30-30 anyway so why worry about recoil?
