Thought you might have been playing in the sand box, and had an itchy six.    Sounds even worse. Hope you get it fixed Jim. I could help you out if it had been the sand box kind. The computer kind I would be of no help. Good luck.

If you have a computer hooked up to the internet you really ABSOLUTELY MUST have a good virus protection program (I use and recommend Norton) on your computer and you MUST keep it up to date DAILY.

Also a good firewall will help.   Zone Alarm is both good and free.   There is also a program called Spybot (also free) that will run a search on all your files and look for other programs you didnÂ’t put there that tracks what you are doing, sometimes called spyware.   Since they are both free if you are not a business, why not use them.   I know they must be good because my old employer (Boeing Airplane Co.) uses them both.

IF you have Norton and IF you keep it up to date on a DAILY basis it will prevent you from getting viruses. Period. Only way it will fail is if you fail to keep it up to date or do not have it protecting your e-mail or if you just happen to be one of the unlucky few who get the virus sent to you before Norton adds a patch for it. Highly unlikely unless you are a large business and thus a target for such.

But unless you have it set to protect your e-mail and update it daily it is of no use to have it.

I get half dozen or more virus e-mails per day. All on the gbomgmt addresss I use for official website business. Norton catches and stops them all.

Steelbanger say perhaps Dali understand more clearly "Itchy three!"

I got a couple of viruses between the time my 90 day Norton (which came with the computer) expired, and I loaded Norton System Works. I went to Symantec's site, downloaded the repair for the two viruses, and ran them. It took quite awhile to do the repairs, especially for the computer challenged like myself, but afterwards I installed the complte Norton, and set it up to do updates. Haven't had a virus since.
I also wont open emails from anyone I don't know. I simply delete them. I think that helps avoid viruses also. I know I got one from an AOL email user that was titled AIMgunny@aol.com  Whoever this terrorist was tried over and over to infect my computer with this same virus, but finally gave up after about a week. I guess he didn't know it worked the first time, and I had fixed it, so he kept trying.
Anyway, Norton really works for my computer.

I have Norton Internet security and anti-virus and still got a virus.Nothing is guaranteed.I also installed Spybot and you wouldn't believe how many tracking cookies were in my PC when I first ran Spybot.I bet there were over 50.   I am a little disappointed in Norton because they wanted $60.00 to remove virus that they were supposed to be blocking out.And I run an update everyday when I boot up,and I scan for virus every night before I shut down.Go figure. :(

To answer your question about an itchy six.  Your six is your rear. It would be the place the pin worms come out

Spyware blaster and adaware are two free protectors that I use and work
great. Just put .com after 'em on a net search and youre there.  I use Norton and the XP firewall also and they got my 'puter running like a Singer.
