PVC sets for coon??

Does anyone use PVC sets to trap coon here??  How does it compare against a regular pocket set for success??   How deep should the trap be set in the water??  How big in dia of a pipe do you uses or does it matter ??  Thanks!!

I use them and they work great. I use sections of PVC pipe in two manners for coons: (1) I use a 24" section of 4" white pipe for use with the "Coon Cuffs" dogproof coon trap. That trap slides in nicely into the end of this pipe if you cut a 5" deep and 1" wide notch into one end for the chain rivet. I add a smear of lure/bait inside the pipe and shove the pipe either into a bank over a coon trail or will shove this into the bottom in the creek and angle it upward slightly back toward the shallow water's edge or trail. the other (2) is to just use the section of PVC pipe (same length) with smear of lure or bait inside and shove into bank or stream bottom and bed a foothold about 10" out from the opening of the pipe.
The white pipe has a lot of eye appeal from a distance and if set where coons can reach the end of it to investigate the odors coming from within, they work this set quite well for me with either footholds or the Coon Cuffs trap models.

The PVC set is what I catch most of my coons in on water, I use 3/4in of pvc instead of the big knid , if its smaller the coon gota work harder to get the bait out , i use sardines for bait and a small bean sized placed of lure, if I have fish oil i will run 2 trails up the bank one on each side if the stream is smaller than 4 feet apart. I place a 1 1/2 coil under the pvc ,oh and make the pvc angled downward so the coon will got to work for it. Try it and see how it works.  :-D   GOOD LUCK

I used pvc sets alot this year with good results. I used some 1 1/2 and 2 inch sizes. I just drove them into the bank near where coon were entering and leaving the water and even on land near trails where they were going into the corn . I used fish and fish oil mixed with shellfish oil just pushed the fish in and squirted with oil letting in run down. Be careful not to get any in the trap bed you want there attention up at the pipe also you don't want them diggin at the trap. I had them cut about 14 inches long and left about 4 inches sticking out at an angle. So they come in from the right side.

I am  thinking about getting some coon-cuffs since I have to deal with landowner's dogs in a few areas.  How dependable are they at catching and holding coon??  How about damage to the foot??  Furbuyers around here don't want to see young coon at all.  Releasing them would be nice if the foot isn't damaged.   Thanks!!
