Its a modern russian 308 rifle and there is information on the net somewhere about it because i just read it somewhere about this rifle. If you want a scout rifle go to AIM SURPLUS.com or CENTURY ARMS and look at M38 or M91/59 mosins or even an M44 because they are really affordable right now. You also have a choice of finding one of the best most accurate mosins ever made too a Finnish M39 too. You also have the choice of cheap surplus ammo(440rds around $40 to $59) or russian wolf($8 a box) or barnaul($6 a box) new manufactured hunting ammo too. The barnaul stuff comes in 204gr. bullet wieght too. BigBill
