Va. blue laws
« on: July 08, 2004, 02:38:45 PM »
The Virginia house of delegates, this last session, attempted to erase the old blue laws.  Well, they found that they'd screwed up by also recinding the exceptions on Sunday closings.  Now, ALL businesses must allow employees to have their prefered day of worship OFF.  They're scrambling to correct that oversight, but I have one question.  If Virginia is determined to eliminate blue laws, why can I still not hunt on Sunday? :x

I have asked the same question of my rulers,Shorty.  The answer I get is that the wildlife needs a day of rest from hunting pressure.

My understanding and belief is that Saturday, the seventh day, is the Sabbath.  When I lived in Tennessee, I hunted every Sunday.
Don't believe everything you think.

Just what were the BLUE LAWS for anyway? I remember we had them here in La, at one time, back when I was a kid.

From what I remember the BLUE LAWS were to ensure Sunday as a day of rest. >John
