whats the pros and cons of useing these lines

Fireline:

Pros:  Very smooth casting, tougher than hell, excellent feel, acts like monofilament except when slip-bobber fishing, good diameter/lb. test ration, doesn't float so your cranks run deeper.

Cons:  Eventually the fibers separate, expensive, fades with age, but fading doesn't reduce strength

Spiderwire:

Pros: very limp, tougher than hell, excellent feel, good diameter/lb. test ratio, doesn't float

Cons:  Line twist will kill you because it's so limp, just becomes a big knot, expensive, can't use it with slip bobbers, expensive, pain to tie knots with, expensive

All of my spinning reels have a spool with mono and a spool with Fireline, all baitcasters have Fireline, I use them for casting and trolling mainly.  I like Fireline MUCH more than Spiderwire, I just think it fishes better in my opinion.

I prefer spider wire on anything jigging, particularly on fish with teeth (walleye, northern, etc...).  It's sensitivity is much better and it is as Selmer said, "tougher than hell".  He's right about the knotting though, and i would say that spiderwire is unusable on anything but jigging.

I tried Firewire last fall salmon fishing in a swift, rocky, river.  It was great for casting but after two trips I noticed some fraying.  I cutout the frayed line and used the remaining for downrigger fishing and jigging in deep water.  It works great as a trolling line or fishing the depths when you do not want a bunch of stretch your line.  But I doubt if I buy anymore.  I went back to using Stren Mono for my salmon fishing.

I bought it because I like Spyderwire and had a lot of success trolling with it in Baja.

I love fireline. I don't use much spider wire because of the cost and its reputation for being hard on guides. I never really noticed it myself but some have claimed that spiderwire ruined thier guides. I use fireline for everything except slip bobbers.
