Stupid question...

This could be a really dumb question. Are there any "black bear" hunting preserves similar to "wild boar" ones??? I've never heard of any...

It seems as if no one wants to answer you.  I don't believe there are.  Since black bear are wild you would have to fence them in and that is a no no.  We did have someone write many years ago and ask if we could get a movie of the bear he was going to hunt as it came out of hibernation.  Honest, he thought we were a game farm.  Even if I knew where a den was I would not sit out there for three months waiting for the bear to decide to come out.

Thanks Kathy!!! You know, the more I thought about that question, the dummer I felt. Bear are not at all prolific like wild boar are, and would not lend themselves at all well to preserve type hunting... Listen, I am very interested in hunting with you... I'll fire an email your way requesting a brochure.... Thanks again.. Dave

You could never keep a bear fenced in.  Those bear can climb over a fence as fast as a squirrel!!

Never heard of a shooting preserve for bears, but if you want to see a lot of bears fenced in, I stopped by Bear Country out by Mount Rushmore a few years back. there must have been 300 or more black bears in about 20 acres that you could drive through. Not a very natural setting but was interesting.

Dave, you're just a few years too late.  Back in the 60's and 70's, several of the preserves in Tenn. did offer black bear hunts, either up front or "on the sly".  I think the state DNR got on them for it since the blackie is a native game species.  The boys were trapping them, then turning them loose for the nimrods.  To the best of my knowledge, there are no preserves offering black bear hunts today.

If you don't think bears are fast either I had a muffler blow out on the way up to my camp one trip it wasn't really noisy till you stepped on the gas. we returning to my camp one night after hunting and had a bear jump out on the side of the road between two fields he was infront(30') of the truck on the side(shoulder of the road) parallel to the truck I speeded up the noise from the muffler put him in full stride about 38mph you had to see him go(for a breif second) I backed off and he darted off the road again but it was excieting for a few minutes. I just said WOW did you see him go? If he was chasing you in the woods you are in trouble for sure. You might think they just look like they lumbering along but they move if they had too.                                         BigBill

He actually crossed infront of me then went up the road good thing I seen him quickly.
