Burris 10X
« on: January 17, 2003, 11:22:42 AM »
I just bought a .223 contender that I will use for long range (200yd) ground squirels. I am thinking about a 10 power burris scope. Anyone ever try one? I noticed it only has 4ft. field of view at 100yds.    :?

I have one on a  TC Super 14" 223 . In fact I'am thinking about buying another one for a Encore I just bought in a 22-250.
If you can find one at a shop try looking through it. Some guys can't see anything except a black spot when they try to look through it. I have no problem. I must have 6 of their pistol scopes. 4x,7x,3x-9x, 10x and 3x-12x.Not counting a new nickle 3x-9x I'am thinking about selling.
If you try one of the Burris scopes your going to be hooked.
Good Luck

I have one and I love it. At first the eye relief is tricky but you get used to it and they are very clear and the FOV is fine.
I like to use it for finding new loads and Benck work also

200 yards is not long range where I shoot.   Anyway, I have 4 of the Burris 10X - 2 old model and 2 new model.   The old model is a little more forgiving on the eye relief, but they are longer than the new model and don't have target knobs.    Hendog, I have a 10X NM on a custom XP-100 223 and its a match made in heaven in the digger fields - you'll like the 10X on your 223.    Personally, I love the 10X on any of my long range pistolas better than any other scope.    IMO Burris still has the best handgun scopes (and I have a lot of them) - I think their 2-7 AO is the best all-around handgun scope you can buy (have 6 of just these).    None of my half dozen handcannons wearing Burris (3 JDJ's, 2 Super Bowers and a 454 Casull) seem to be able to shake them loose inside either.   Now if their rifle scopes just weren't so butt ugly!   (I shoot Leupold and Nikon on the long tubes).

I also use (now don't choke) a half dozen of the long discontinued Tasco Pro Class 30mm jobs on some of my hand boomers, and they are tuff as nails too.   So are the Simmons Gold Medal Handgun scopes I have - also discontinued.

Rambled long enough on this one....   enjoy that C-223 - it should be a shooter for you.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
