I could not find a stainless steel one. T/C or Fox Ridge outfitters don't make them.

Tad,

I have a SS 14 1/2" Bullberry 209X50 and I like it a lot.  However, I think that if I were you I might just purchase a factory 26" SS 209X50 barrel and have it cut down to 16 1/4".  That way you could use it as a pistol or a carbine and personally I would like to have the extra length. Also, you could use factory rifle forends with this setup and all you would have to do in switching from rifle to pistol would be change out the grip/buttstock.  Put on a red dot scope and point of impact should not change between pistol/rifle changes.

Man where do I come up with these great ideas.  Heck I've just about talked myself into doing it!  :-D

FWIW,

X

If I'm adding it up correctly on Bullberry's site the total cost for a stainless pistol length 209X50 will be $449.00.  That's $369.00 for a 209x50 and an $80.00 charge for stainless.

No, that does not include the ramrod.  Fred refuses to install anything on his barrels but his hanger bar.  The ramrod has a palmsaver attached to it and it comes in a mini-mag flashlight belt holder.  This is an additional $35.00.

I'm sure that Virgin Valley will build you one with the ramrod installed if you like.  I just got a 26" 209x50 from them last week.

In all honesty, I would go with the above suggestion and cut down a factory barrel.

HTH,

X-caliber, do you know the rate of twist on your bullberry? I wonder if that would be a factor in cutting down a factory 209x50. The bullberry may have a faster twist. Hows accuracy with the bullberry? I saw the picture of your handgun on the hog forum- very nice! Now i want one

Tad,

I honestly don't know what rate of twist my barrel has and there is a reason for that.  I had always assumed that it had a 1:28 twist.  Let me tell you the story about my barrel.

I bought it used from Bullberry's "inventory" barrel list on their web site.  Evidently a customer had ordered the barrel and it was too much for him to handle so Fred took the barrel back.  The customer obviously didn't know too much about blackpowder either because he sent it back to Fred uncleaned!  Because of this fellow's ignorance my barrel has some pitting.    I was told up front about this by Bullberry and they told me that if it wouldn't shoot then they would give me my money back.

Well, I have been very pleased with the accuracy of the gun.  With only a 2X scope using the 250 grain Hornady SST and 100 grains of GOEX FFG I was able to get several groups of 1" at 50 yards.  I consider this to be a 75 or so yards weapon and that kind of accuracy is more than acceptable for me.  I have also tried various loads using Pyrodex and Powerbelt bullets that group so well in my rifle, but this has been the most accurate load so far.  And as you can tell from the photo's, it works!

If you have a specific twist rate in mind, as long as a barrel blank is available in the caliber and twist that you want, then a barrel can be had.  For enough $$ of course!   :)

Good luck!

T/C's Custom Shop (FRO) makes the 15" 209x50 (I got mine from Ed's T/C) in stainless steel.

The twist  rate is 1:28"

Rog

The stainless version is a custom shop barrel (which is 'supposed' to be a better grade of barrel than the average factory barrel...)

The top of the barrel is etched with something to the effect of "T/C Custom Shop barrel" (don't have it in front of me....)

Mine shoots extremely good (less than 1.25" for 3 shots at 100 meters.

I think I paid around $260, shipped to my door for mine.

:P Unfortunately, mine's not for sale or trade.

Regards,

Rog
