Does any one remember this ad?
« on: July 14, 2004, 08:03:02 PM »
I got this off of a other forum what a jab I loved it!

Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

No, I certainly don't remember that ad. I don't believe anyone else will, either, because it never existed --- except in some computer-prankster's program.
I am certain that Volkswagen would never have run such an ad. Volkswagen ran ads that were humorous but not hurtful.
I remember the one with Wilt Chamberlain standing outside a Volkswagen and the headline: "They said it couldn't be done! ... And it couldn't."
The ad went on to say that if you're 7-foot, 1 inch then perhaps the Volkswagen bug isn't for you, but that it fit most of the people on the planet.
Some prankster has cobbled together a fine hoax there, but I don't believe it's a bonafide Volkswagen commercial.

From what I read it was a satire done by National Lampoon. When the Kennedy clan protested the mag ran a retraction saying if Kennedy had not had a Volkswagon he STILL would not have been President.  :)
