FN Five-seveN

I'm kind of a new collector of the whole exotic weapon theme of things.
I've heard about the new FN Five-seveN and really, I would like to know what you guys think about it!

Will the new 5.7 x 29mm punch through Kevlar?
Also..do you feel like this is going to be the type of thing that you'll own one minute and have to register the next like the deal with the street sweepers from Cobray?

I can't figure out another thing, so I'll ask.
Is this a Class 3 item or can anyone own it?

I'm looking at one on gunbroker.com and they say it isn't a Class 3, but you know how that goes.  I know there is LE mags for it..so I'm just trying to be careful here before I put my money into it!

Thanks guys!

I do not see any reason why it would be a class 3
weapon. I am sure that Uncle Sam will frown on the 20 rd.
magazine though. The 5.7x28 ammo would be a pain to aquire I am sure.
but I would like to try one out on a couple of "VARMINTS" of some sort

Ammo is easy to get, if you don't mind paying the shipping!

I don't know..I have a fear that they will end up making it a Class 3 because of the fact that it will go through Kevlar..and that's not a simple task!

Thanks for your info though!

They would have to make things like the Contender And
Remington xp series handguns class 3 also.
They fire rifle rounds and most FMJ rifle rounds
will punch Kevlar vests. (Up to threat level 3 anyway
I have not tested higher)

The link supplied above which talks about the pistol states that it's available to LE and Military only:

Very bottom of the page.  Is this not true?
