express sights for Super Blackhawk?

I am considering putting a set of express sights on my SBHH and would like to know if anyone has tried this yet? Bowen makes the rear sight and I think they reccomend the Ashley Big dot on the front sight.

The Super Blackhawk Hunter has the same sight setup as the redhawk so the gold bead and express V rear that Ruger offer as an accessory fits. Brownells have them or you can get them direct from Ruger. I was going to try them but put a scope on mine instead.

I tried Ruger's express (bead front, "V" rear) on my SBH Hunter. I crank the rear site all the way up and it still shot low with mid-range loads. I called Ruger and they said that while the express site will fit the SBH Hunter, they were made for the Redhawk only. They said they were not made to work on the SBH Hunter.

I hadn't tried any other loads, but I doubt that it would make any difference, since the load I tested was shooting about 1100 fps, and at about 30 yds I was hitting about 7" low, with the rear site cranked all the way up.

Me neither, but that's what Ruger told me. I haven't tried any further experimenting. Incidentally, I'd like to be proven wrong. I've got another 41 SBH Hunter, I may try putting the express sites on it and see if the results are simular. I find it hard to believe that somebody hasn't tried these sites on a SBH Hunter before. I was hoping maybe somebody would wade into this and tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks,
Steve
