How to untite LOK-TITE

I know that indians didn't have this stuff in their bag of tricks. But we do and at times it makes taking things apart a real Pain In The A.

So, if you come across a screw that has been loc-tited and are having a hard time removing it. Heat will break down the loc-tite. Only about 200 degrees is needed to break it down. Either a heat gun or a pot of boiling water for a few minutes will do the job.

A sharp rap on a good fitting screwdriver will also work.

You should always use a removable loctite for gunsmithing. (I know this from personal error.)

I have found that an old screw driver/hex wrench/torx driver can be used to heat the offending screw. Put the driver in the screw and heat the shaft of the driver with a tourch. Then use a good driver to remove the screw.

I think this is the method old indians use on thier take down bows. :)

You can also freeze the part, to loosen it, below 32 degrees.

I have used WD-40 to break down the Loc-Tite. Spray some on and let it soak for a while. Then just turn out that screw.
