Book question
« on: August 16, 2003, 11:22:46 PM »
Does the Paul Mathews book (The Paper Jacket) cover smokeless loading too, as well as black powder? I'm trying to come up with a 30-30 load. Also, where is the best place to buy the book?

Matthews book talks to both BP and smokeless.  The main diff with smokeless is that the bullets don't obturate the same as BP he recomends a bullet .0005 over the bore diameter then patch it.  You load using standard load data.  Darn now my night is gone as I have started to re-read the book and I won't stop till I am done.  It makes more sense each time I read it.  JB

The book is available from Pallidin (sp) Press.  Most any gun magazine has an ad.  Midway also sells the book occasionally.

IDSA carries The Paper Jacket for $13.50 plus $4.00 shipping. Midway has it in the July flier for $12.50, plus their usual shipping (#813-840).
