Don't know much about Benchmade knives, except that the ones I've handled and used were all pretty good quality.
The only thing I could find was
http://www.csm-w.com/Knives.htm looks like what you have is a pre production test knife, one that they make a few of and see how well they are recieved at blade and such, at least that's what I think, I'm no expert.
Also no way for me to be sure, but the "brass looking" linner is probably anidized titianium.
