Scope question
« on: July 20, 2004, 10:56:59 AM »
Will I be sorry if I buy a Swift 2 X 20 instead of a Nikon 2 X 20?
There is only about $70.00 difference in cost.
Is the Nikon far and away better?
What is the difference?  Both have lifetime warranty.

In my opinion the Nikon is a better buy. I had two swift scopes. I no longer have the swift scopes. I bought  Leupold to replace them. I would of been way ahead of the game if I just invested the money to began with. Get the Nikon.  :D

I own three Nikon 2X scopes and I'm very pleased with them.  I prefer them to the Leupold 2X (which I owned past tense).  I wouldn't bother with a Swift based on reputation.

Hated both of them... They are in a box somewhere....Like looking through a fish tank.....I learned a valuable lesson on glass.... When it comes to seeing what your hitting spend some money....I have never regretted spending but have regretted not....

I have a 2x 20mm on my sbh and I like it fine. I have fired 900+ heavy rds and no problem. I would like to see a larger dia. for pistols say 30mm. Most every one I shoot with goes Nikon.

I use only Leupold scopes. I got my first one in the 1960`s and still ahve it. Over the years I had alot of other brands, and most have worked well, but none are as good as Leupolds. I would reather use iron sights on a handgun than a cheap scope.

Swift makes a good product. They also have a no hassle guarantee. If the scope breaks you exchange it for a new one. I have one of their handgun scopes and I think it’s of good quality. You didn’t mention what caliber pistol you were going to top this on. For factory loaded 44 magnums and below I believe the swift would be fine, anything more I would go with a more well known scope. I don’t have experience with Nikon so I cannot recommend them. I do know the Leupolds are worth the money.

Be Safe,
Scott

44phanatic,I have owned swift & nikon scopes. IMO neither is top quality in there lower priced lines. In the swift if you get the premier line they are a very good optic, arguably the equal of the leupold. The leupolds are hard to beat, if money is not a concern. For lower priced pistol scopes I prefer the Bushnell trophey series. Hope this helps, Byron

:cb2: I've only got one friend with a Nikon scope. He loves it. I wasn't impressed. I do, however, have and love my Nikon camera, so I guess it's just luck of the draw.

Leupold or Nikon.  Good stuff.  Never used a Swift, but no need to change to try one either.
