Anybody here had any dealings with the High-Point pistols?They sure are cheap in price.Looked up on web and found good reports with only a few negative ones.............Rick

I will not admit to selling one...but the customer who ordered it says that it shoots very well. It is a simple blow-back design. Nothing fancy or even nice in appearance...but it shoots.

My son bought a Hi Point 9mm at a gun show for ~$98.00, new.......I wondered. I think he shoots Wolf FMJ's and has had only one jam in the first clip, he feeds it every weekend with at least 50-100 rounds, no problems....I'm thinking of getting one.....

Was reading all your posts cause I'm thinking of one of these in 9mm.  I have a question for cknight, did you know they have a lifetime warranty against such problems?  It doesn't matter if you bought it new or not nor does it matter if it was your fault.

How do you guys feel about the 9mm for self defense?  I know the 45 is better but too much for my wife.  I feel it's better to get one or two shots where they should be instead of one just somewhere near the perp.

I am getting either the 9mm compact or the .45 at the gun show tomorrow. Going to keep it in my tackle box. not out alot if it falls overboard.

I just bought a new Hi-Point 9mm carbine and it would jam on just about EVERY shot, I used 10 different kinds of factory ammo including ball ammo to no success. The gun is now at Hi-Point being fixed, but the good news is they sent me 2 free magazines first to make sure it wasnt magazine related. Hopefully the smith there is as good as the customer support. The gun is the most accurate 1 shot gun I ever owned, I fed 1round in at a time to see how it grouped and it was under 1 inch at 30yds most just a ragged hole. I figured if it didnt group I would just return it to the dealer for a refund instead of having it fixed.

Hi-Point ---- What a name for such a Low standard in firearms.

They are strictly range guns for fun.

Anyone who would use it under the assumption of self or home defence is playing russian rillet with there own life.

I have a Hi Point .45 acp and my son and I just returned from the range with it. Shot 100 rounds tonite and not a single jam. Would I want to bet my life on it not jamming...no, but I've had only a couple of jams after shooting probably 500 rounds with it. Accuracy is actually pretty good too.
I picked it up at a gun show and I was kind of embarrassed to buy it because I figured it was probably a piece of junk, but I had spent all my cash on a rifle that day.
I really have been pleasantly surprised with it and I would probably buy another Hi Point pistol.

If friends don't let friends drive drunk. Then friends should not let friends shoot High points.  :D  OK seriously now. I would never own one, I have shot several of them that people have bought. They all sold them. Jams, fail to feed were some of the problems. I would spend more to get a more dependable gun. JMHO. :)

I know this guy who has had a Hi-point 9mm. for several years he got it used,I've shot it hundreds of times I'd be afraid to guess how many times the gun has been fired,(a Heck of alot). It looks ruff as heck but functions flawlessy,as long as he has had it.
I've got several $$$ handguns,and in a life or death situation,I'd feel very well armed with HIS Hi-point..
Just my thoughts

Well, I did it, went to the gun show this past weekend and got a Hi-Point 9mm comp. for $98.00.... So did my friend, the other two guys with us (Glock owners) really "ragged" us for some time about buying them...Will be going to the range tomorrow and running a couple of hundred rounds thorough them...
From what I have been reading the only problem seems to be in the clips, keep them clean, no problems.  Not a problem for me, I always clean the guns and clips when I get back from the range...
One guy on a forum said to buy clips from "Pro Mag", they seem to be the ONLY company that makes clips for the Hi-Point, at $23.00 each.....
If I really enjoy the gun I'll order up a couple...
I'll post my shooting results on Sunday....

Took the Hi-Point out today......

Well, I must admit I was pleased......We split a bag of 200 9mm ($20) re-loads that we bought at the gun show with the Hi-Points. Went to an indoor range and shot at 25 yds. Out of 100 rounds each we had one jam per gun in the first ~25 rounds,  I was amazed. I figured re-loads would be a good test, if it shot re-loads, it will shoot anything.  The gun is accurate and has little recoil because of the weight (26 oz.).  The only thing I want to do is get a couple of clips from Pro Mag, yes, they make them for the Hi-Point, I just don't care for the Hi-Point clips....they seem "cheap".......
Can't wait to go out again, we had a good time, especially when the guy next to us wanted to know what we were shooting, the look on his face when we told him. :eek: ...he had a high end Kimber .45

Jimbo, I 'm not surprised ,the blow back system is simple and effective. I'm sure the jams where just because of the new, and stiff factor.
