Bear #4
« on: July 05, 2004, 11:18:28 AM »
Recently got back from my annual quebec bear hunt.  I killed my 4th bear and third with a bow.  A 175 pound sow that was very old.  She circled me for an hour before coming in.  We killed two out of 3 hunters.  All in all it was a great trip.  Thermacells keep all mosquitoes away....and I mean all.

Etter, Who did you hunt with up there? I have shot two bears in Quebec. An average one with a rifle and a 390 plus pounder with a longbow. The one with the longbow was with Ron Henry. Nice bear but we had some issues with the guide in our camp having very little experience (especially tracking) and a little to much drinking on Mr. Henry's part to help when tracking needed to be done. Sounds like you had a great time.>John

I hunt with a small outfitter on the gouin reservour.  I can't say the name or my father won't take me anymore but this place is mostly a fishing camp.  We hunt hard to get our bears because we do all our own baiting.  Having the outfitter is just a legality for us.
