Why Varget in the .260

I just have to know why many people use Varget in the .260?  Yeah I know if it shoots what does it matter.  Is there another reason to use a powder on the faster end of the spectrum for the .260 or is it just because it is relatively insensitive to hot and cold?  Just wondering if I am missing anything here?  Yes I shoot a .260 but I have 16lbs of IMR-4831 and was sure hoping that it was going to work out.

Most people use it because it works.  Seriously though, I have had 3 different 260 barrels, all by different manufacturers, 1 was an 8 twist and the other 2 were 9 twist and it didn't seem to matter to the load.  Just dump 36 grains behind a 107 or 140 and you are ready to compete.  Mild recoil and sub MOA accuracy - what more can you ask out of a powder.

I have been using IMR 4064 33 gr/ 108 Lapua and  Rel 19 43 gr/ 139 Lapua with great results usually 1/2 MOA on both of them, vel about 2600-2650 for 108s and 2700-2750 for 139s

The reasons you mention are pretty good ones.  Zeroes tend to be stable too.  "Flows" OK in a powder measure.  Ram load velocity tends to be low though.  If it works at the ranges where you shoot then don't sweat it.  If not you will need to see about a somewhat slower powder as Varget can peak very quickly with any of the heavier bullets and primer pockets can loosen up in a hurry.
