I'll bite ... 510 Whisper???

You wanting to shoot TANKS in your backyard without annoying the neighbors?? Well, I guess you've got a brake on it so you're not going to put a can on there.

I'm trying to figure out a reason for a sub-sonic 750gr. bullet - I'll take, "Because!"

While I cant speak for John specifically, I bet he is gonna get some smashing long range groupings as he gets more comfortable with the gun.  The 750 A-Max bullets have monsterous Ballistic Coefficients, so if he does his part he will probably get good groupings out as far as he can see......500.....600.....700 yards, who knows?  Stout recoil?  Sure, I can imagine.  I did the free recoil math for the 510 whisper in an Encore rifle and was shocked.  But in a pistol, under proper circumstances I cant see it being nearly as bad.

My .50-70 Contender is a lot of fun with the BMG bullets.  I prefer the 650s due to pricing and recoil - the 750s are beautiful but at ca. $2 each.....!   The most fun are the tracers; fired at a safe range (ocean mud flats out past the range targets) they are a blast.  The bullet moves slowly so you have plenty of time to watch it arc across the sky, and the crazy ricochetes are fun too.  But they can and will cause fires, so be careful where you shoot them!

With cast bullets the big 50s have a lot of power.  I shot moose with mine loaded with 475-grain cast hollowpoints at ca. 1300 fps.  Lots of action on both ends of the barrel....
