44 mag for elk

I want to hunt elk with 44 read hawk . will it be enough gun for a 50 to 80 yard shots. if so what bullet would use.              THANK YOU!

I hunted elk with the 44mag. I have used a 270gr. Speer Gold Dot soft point and a Cast Performance 320gr. WFNGC hard cast bullets. It will do the job if you do your part. Shot  placement and know your range limitation is the key to sucess. I personally would not go with a bullet weight below 270gr. and a good soft point or harcast will suite you well. Mark. :-)
