New G2
« on: July 29, 2004, 04:33:11 PM »
I ordered a new G2 today in 12 inch .44mag.  Now to scope it.  The only experience I have with handgun scopes is a fixed 2x Burris I had on my old contender in .357Max.  It was definitely adequate although it broke after a only a few shots, Burris stood by it and fixed it and it was alright until I sold it.  I would like a variable in the likes of 1.5- 4x.  I believe the slightly higher magnification could help a little when developing loads. Does anyone have any experience in the Weaver 1.5X -4X? Or the Burris in the same power?  Also what rings and bases is everyone using?  Ive become partial to Warnes And Leoupolds on a few inlines I have..  Which do you prefer?

I just bought a Bushnell Trophy 2x-6x on sale for $139 at Midway.  I've always been resistant to the Bushnell line but have heard nothing but good about this scope for the money.  I haven't shot it yet, but its on my G2 10" 44Mag ready to go.  I am very impressed with it thus far regarding the constant eye relief over variable range and brightness.

I bought it mainly for load development, then to go on my .22lR match or .17HMR barrel. in the future.   I put a set of T/C Maxima Med Quick Release rings on it so I can move it around easily.  I will probably end up with a dedicated 2X leupold on the .44 barrel when all is said and done.

Bushnell Elite 3200 2-6X32 rides atop my Encore 12 inch 44 magnum.

Fits well, holding up to the recoil and I do like the magification out to X6.  May never use it for hunting that high but it works off the bags at the range and it is nice to have options.

Hope this helps.
