Archery Research Bows???
« on: July 20, 2004, 10:54:18 AM »
I am thinking about picking up an  AR 34 Archery Research bow.  A local bow shop has them on sale.

I really like the way these bows look, but I've never handled one.

Any comments?

I was able to handle one (not shoot it though,) at the local sports shop.  Dont remember exactly what model it was though.  Man is that bow light!  Nice and short too.  I am probably gonna wind up getting the new PSE Typhoon withing the next six months, but if I can somehow swing the extra bucks (it was around $670 for the bare bow,) I might just get me the AR instead.  If there is a bow that would give me a lifetime of satisfaction it would probably be the AR.

:D I  shot one at a pro shop one time when they first come out and was hooked i had not been shooting a bow long and had already bought a Pearson Diamondback, if it had not been for that i would have went for the AR. I like this Pearson but i had the chance to trade for a Matthews LX which I like even more . I have heard that AR has had a little trouble with their bows but you know how scuttlebut is, I am sure they had a few problems at first but i bet they have them ironed out by now. You owe it to yourself to go and shoot one for yourself and see what you think of it. they all fling arrows just find the one that is most comfortable for you. I have seen a few on ebay for sale may be able to pick one up cheap.

I picked up my AR bow today.

$378.00 out the door.  I couldn't pass that up.

I shot twenty or thirty arrows through it, and this is a very smooth drawing bow.  It's also very quiet, and has very little shock/recoil.

It actually looks a lot like a Mathews bow.  The cam is very similar.

I chrono'd my arrows.  I was getting around 265 fps with a 440 grain carbon arrow.

I think I'm going to like this bow a lot.
