Which Capper?
« on: August 04, 2004, 10:20:16 AM »
I started with a straight-line capper, but I am always losing caps out of it.  What is a good brand and style that is dependable?
Thanks.  Mike.

I've always liked Cash cappers. I've used both the rifle and the pistol cappers.

I make and use the leather cappers.  Pucnch or drill an approx cap size hole along the edge and then cut through the edge with a sharp knice.  Bery easy to use and the cost is pennies.

When hunting, it's on a loop hanging from my bag or a shrit button.  If rainly the loop has a string long enough to allow it to go into an inside shrit pocket or the shooting bag

I like my Ted Cash rifle capper like quicks' link shows, sure an occasonial cap will present wrong, but it holds enough so I don't have to keep loading it!
When hunting, like longcruise said, I use a round leather capper,, fail safe, fast and handy,,but ya only need "one" shot anyways,,,,right?
i'm a realist. i've not seen it all, but man ,,I've Been Around the block once or twice

The TDC capper is just for playin. I use the punched leather one too, hung around my neck inside my coat/shirt for hunting. I made a little one holer strip for stickin a cap in one end and the other end goes between the hammer and the nipple to seal the breech when I'm not huntin, but it's still charged, makes for handy quick cappin.

I also use the Tedd cash rifle capper for informal shoots and load/test/practice work... but the maiden leather capper for rondies and when out hunting.

Like the idea of the "quick capper" quickdtoo, and thanks.   Will be several on them in my possibles before the rondy this weekend.

If all you want is a hunting capper, and plastic doesn't offend you, go with a TC star 7, they work great. I have had nice brass cappers, and they can get lost just as easy as a cheep plastic thing.

A capper is one of those things where what is best is what fits you.  When I hunt, I sometimes perspire and things under my shirt get a bit steamy.  I don't know as I would trust an unprotected cap inside my shirt.  I have a Cash Capper and have lost it before on a trail walk.  When I hunt, I carry my Cash Capper attached to my possibles bag and I carry a straight capper in my possibles bag, hanging from a tie near the top of the bag.  I might lose one and lose some caps out of the other, but one of them is going to work.

When the shootin got busy I used to hold one of those little devils tween my lips, I get dumb ideas like that sometimes.
