I too am thinking 270WSM for the Encore in Stainless.  Haven't found the source yet but would need pretty quick turnaround.  24" barrel would be my first choice.

Thanks.

Mike

You probably won't. It is my understanding that no one will make them. Too much breach face pressure for an Encore action. I belive some were made early on but I haven't heard of any being made lately.  KN

I can speak from experence. I have 2 300wsm barrels one from BB the other from VV  the one from BB is about to be returned for a credit of 30% of what it cost...this was by agreement . In the beginning I thought i MUST have one of these and ordered one from BB when I got it I tried every load of factory ammo made with terrable results. I let a friend who reloads work on it for months still nothing....sent it to 2 other people who tried different thing ( recrown, lenghten throat, etc.)  IT will not shoot a group.
My barrel from VV has had loads worked up for it by them and it does better but I can say it is not a tack driver either. The most common thing with both is the "flyers" or lack of holding POI. I assume this is due to the "frame" problem.
I am talking flyers and POI change of 4-6 inches so its not a minor thing.
I know how it feels to have the "bug" for one of these but this is how it is.
I don't recommend it but as I said I am about to return one so if you feel you "have to have one" I will sell mine for what my credit is at BB.
I offer this only because I have no use or hope for it and refuse to sell it to someone without them knowing all the facts.
Just a offer I don't recommend you take it.
send me a email or private if you need more info

Chamber length is not an issue in the Encore, so why not just a plain ol' 300 Win. Mag. or 7mm Rem Mag.  Ballistics should be identical to the WSM's.

Just a thought

I assume that because the chamber is now to large it would require cutting the barrel down past the chamber and welding a new lug. plus due to its taper their may not be enough "meat" in that area of the barrel where the lug goes.
Most likely I will just order a 300wm to replace it  and use my "credit toward that.
Thanks for the thought though.
