Too much stuff.........
« on: August 08, 2004, 12:41:57 AM »
My daughter and I are trying to cut down on what we carry up in the stand. If we think of anything else we "need", I'll have to start using a trailer. I was wondering what everyone takes with them to the stand, and what kind of stand you use. We use Summit Viper X4's. Bow season starts here on August 28th.

I have a Summit Goliath. I take my bow and a back pack. In the back pack I take water, binos, rangefinder, bug spray (unscented), cel phone, knife, rubber gloves for field dressing, back strap with small rope to drag deer, and a couple granola bars. While walking with climber on my back I attach my back pack to the tree stand with bungee cords. Very light.

Redhawk,
Attaching the backpack to the climber is a good idea. I was wondering to myself how I was going to carry them both. Thanks. I was out scouting today on some public land and ran across three hog carcasses. They had been there a while because all that was left was bones. All three had been shot in the head with a small caliber bullet. Poachers I guess. It was kind of sad. I showed the fish and game officer where I had found it and brought home one of the skulls. He is the only officer on duty for 64,000 acres. Maybe they should take some of the money the state spends on the welfare system, and put another officer on patrol out there.
