.40 Smith Ain't That Weak!-

Hello all, I finally got on the .40 Smith bandwagon! I've been experimenting with the popular Glock 23 and the little sucka will do anything the 9mm will but with larger and heavier bullets up to 200 grains!
I've managed to run the 200s @ 1000fps+ and just found some Vihtavuori-105 that the book claims will safely run that same 200@1135fps!
Anyone else discovering the .40s potential?

The "Short and Weak" guys are 10mm shooters.  They think "what the hell do I need that puny round for?"  Truth is, you need to look at it like the .38/.357 world.  One came from the other, and they both are quite similar except for length.....but they really are two seperate cartridges in their own right.  Not everyone can shoot .357, and quite honestly the .38 is usually enough cartridge.  Well the same goes for the .40.  I just look at it this way, after putting up with both sides bickering and fighting over the 9mm vs. .45 ACP debate Ive come to the reasoning......everyone has their cartridge and its the right one for them.

I'm with you...I have a Browning Hi-Power in .40. I'm looking forward to trying out that VV105 loading. Great potential!. jd45.

The 40 S&W's nickname of "Short & Weak" came about because the original factory load was intended to duplicate the FBI 10 mm lite load.  The FBI 10 mm lite load didn't work either.  You won't find any 10 mm shooters bragging it up.  You have to keep in mind that this load was brought to us by the same folks that brought us Waco & Ruby Ridge.

Since then the original 40 S&W load has been abandonded in favour of decent loads that do a decent job.
