MOSIN 91/30 & HUNGARIAN AMMO?
« on: August 05, 2004, 10:32:23 AM »
Hi I am thinking about a Russian 91/30 Mosin Nagant package(sounds pretty good for $59.95) from AIM SURPLUS for my first milsurp(I would use it for cheap plinkin mostly and maybe a little for varmints)- is this a good choice? -has anyone had experience with AIM? -are they quality and good condition? Also AIM has some Hungarian yellow tip heavy ball ammo for $35/440rounds. I was wondering if it is corrosive because I don't want to spend all my time cleaning. I know it probably is and I may have to stick with Wolf but I thought I should ask. And is there any other cheap NON-CORROSIVE ammo out there. Thanks a bunch guys

I have purchased many surplups from AIM SURPLUS and they have all been great.  Eric at AIM is one of the top dealers to deal with.  Now about ammo I treat all the imported ammo the same as corrosive even its marked non corrosive.  I trust no ones label.   I run wet patches of G.I. Rifle Bore Cleaner until they come out clean, then a few dry patches and then oil up the bore.  I've never lost a barrel yet in over 25 years.  BigBill

The G.I. Rifle Bore Cleaner and G.I. Weapons Oil can be found the cheapest at; colemans surplus

AIM is a very reputable company to deal with.  The Mosin-Nagant 91/30 is an excellent choice for a Milsurp rifle and you will be surprised how much fun it is to shoot.

ALWAYS clean your rifle after every shooting - it only takes 10 minutes.  Why invest $100.00 to only throw it away six months later?

I bought my first Mosin (91/30) and then bought another (M44).  As I am very big into Cowboy Action Shooting, I thought I would never own a Mosin-Nagant for anything!  I do not regret my choice to buy one (two) and have never looked back............
