Sig-Hammerli Trailside

I was in a gun store today and saw a couple of these Trailsides and was impressed.  They seem like a very nice handgun and Hammerli is none for their Olympic quality guns.  The only thing that seemed cheap on it was the plastic clip.  Has anyone here had any experience with them?  I would like to know what you have liked or disliked about them.  I don't understand why I had never heard of them before, unless they just aren't all they are cracked up to be.

 I posted my experiences with the Trailside a few weeks ago on this forum.  It's a really nice pistol overall.

I had my grubby little paws on one the other day at a gun show. If it wasn't for the price, It would have followed me home. That had to be the best feeling, most natural pointing pistol I've ever picked up.

There was a test in a gun magazine (Handguns?) a couple of years ago on the Sig.  Dave Arnold spent the entire test talking about how he could still shoot Bullseye with it just like he used to.  He never did talk about how well it shot or if the price was worth it or even if he liked it.  We only found out that he thought he was still steady enough to shoot rapid fire.  I, for one, would have liked more information as the gun seems very interesting.  Glad you enjoy yours.  44 Man

:D  I got one recently. It is the fixed sight version. About all Sigs point great for me.. The Trailside points near perfect. You do have to overlook the plastic though. It will shoot about 1 inch at 25 yards with open sights. There is a built in rail at the top edge of the barrel which takes .22 tip off rings and my next step is to mount a 2x Leupold on it.  One thing that strikes me as odd: The design of the frame and barrel won't fit any holster I've seen, so what is up with this "Trailside" name??? cbagman :(  Update.. The thing is picky about ammo.. Also it shoots low with the fixed sights- about 5 inches at 25 yards.. You have to get a 2 or three size taller rear sight.. I think I am happier with my Ruger Gov model and a 5.5 inch Target Mark II Rugers.. Both of them have aftermarket triggers..cbagman
