Savage 12fv hb varmint?
« on: August 16, 2004, 03:54:26 PM »
I am thinking of getting one of these in a 22-250 for target and varmint hunting. I have read good things about the Savage but wanted some feed back from users if possible.

Thumbs up or down?

What say you?

Mike

Like i said i lost all my gear-Ts820 se and 2 ts 120s amps the whole enchalada, plus 21 long guns, 11 hand guns and much more. Now back to the topic. I don't have any savages in my safe, nothing against them i just like remingtons better, I have a 700rem in 17 rem and its a blast to shoot, plus it does one heck of a job on everything i have shot so far. i have a 223 rem in a ruger 77mk2 A 22-250 rem A 6mm rem in a 700 rem.
And on and on. Well Sir,,,,,,,Have a good one.........Joe............

I have a 12fvss in 223 that is a real tac driver.  I currently own 6 savage rifles and all of them shoot well below MOA.  The 12fvss in 223 is probably the best shooter in the bunch.  It averages about 3/8" for 5 shots @ 100 yards with several loads.  I have shot plenty of one hole groups with that rifle that were probably under 1/4" ctc.  It even likes the cheap ultramax reloads with 55 or 62 fmj's (usually prints about 1/2" at 100 with them).  I can't speak for a savage in 22-250 but I would expect results similar to what I have experienced with my other savages.  For the $ they are a good deal and out of the box they are one of the most accurate rifles on the market.
