500 S&W Carbine

I've been away from GBO for a while, but have a neat new gun to write about. OTT offered a group deal on barrels for the 500 about a year ago. I ordered a 20" one to use on a rifle frame. I also contacted mountain molds and designed a 420 grain bullet with a large flat point. My intent was to duplicate 50-70 ballistics. The barrel looks great and shoots like it looks. The mold was ready in a week and arrived exactly as I wanted it. I intend to take at least one deer with it this year.

500 S&W Barrel

Hey,

I got a 500 S&W barrel from VV.  Best part was it was delivered in 3 weeks.  It's 22" with SS finish.

Mine uses 350 Hornady XTP bullets.  Recoil is simply too much for me.  Now the barrel is back getting a muzzlebrake.  My 45-70 barrel is an absolute pussycat by comparison.

I'll try to get a couple of pictures put up here in the next day or so. I haven't tried any lighter bullets or high velocities.
