AWB Sunset has Gun Shops Jittery

i was in the shop today and the counter man was waving an AK with an added Romainian side folder stock at me. "Buy this Ak, it's got a folding stock.  You can't get a folding stock anymore" he said.  Well, it was a Mak90, so I don't know if it had the proper U.S. parts count or not to have had the stock added.  And it was $150.00 to high.

But just joking around I said," When the ban sunsets, I'll add a (insert favorite evil feature) of my own".  Well, you'd have though I'd slapped the man.  Got all red in the face.

Well then his buddy starts waving an AR.  "this one's got a bayonet lug, you can't add that on..."  Riiiiiiggghhht!

Now I don't know what one can add if the AWB sunsets to what gun.  Don't really care.  But these guys were frantically trying to get rid of their pre-bans or faux-pre-bans.  I had just set foot in the store when this started.  Maybe they bought too high?  Anyway it put me off of buying that $410.00 revolver I had come in for.

I have pesonally thought that the "pre-ban" price of various semi-autos is far higher than can be justified.  That is the pre-bans should have a slight mark-up over newly manufactured similar fiirearms, but not mark ups of the past.  

When the AWB sunsets, manufacturers will simply add the "banned features" for a portion of their production run that is not bound for California and certain other states.  Since there will be little difference in retail prices from the current "post ban" models.  

Yes, they probably have an inventory mark-down problem that they are going to have to face at some point in the near future.

thats whats nice about building those "KIT" guns, they already have the
PreBan features on them already , all you need to do is  add the compliant
parts..
