This may not help much but at our local gander mountain they sell used hand guns.  A few months back they had some traded officer guns.  They will 92's(w/ night sights) not glocks but they are out there...usually lots of holster wear.

Love the size of the model 19. Just about the right size for a 9mm. Right between the 17 and 26. I traded my off, gotta get another!

Chris,
The preban and LE mags hold 15rds. By the way, I use my mdl 19 holsters for my mdl 36 when I need a holster for it.

Chris,
A 4# striker spring and a 3.5# connector sure make a sweet trigger on that gun!!! You might want to get by with the 10rd mags till next September. The hicaps might get a lot cheaper------till then they're going for about $100 a copy.

Chris,
I have a belt clip on my mdl 36. I just stick it inside my pants without a holster and it just dissapears! It works the same way with the mdl19.

Savage,

Tell me a little more about the belt clip for the 19.  Source?  Sounds better (and easier) than the paddle I use when going to the clinic at night.

DogDoc,
The Glock Carry Clip comes with a new Slide Cover Plate that is drilled and tapped for the two included screws. The Slide Cover plate is removed and replaced with the new one, then the clip is attached with the two screws. It goes on either side of the slide, as per your preference. You just slide the gun into your waistband with the clip between your pants and the belt. Conceals better and is more comfortable than any IWB holster I have ever tried. Some question the safety of this type of carry. I feel that it is quite safe as long as you don't pull the trigger! Use extra care as you slide the gun into your pants. I use my trigger finger to guide and shield the trigger as I slide it in my pants. This is the only IWB carry that I use these days. I bought mine at a gunshow for abour $20. Here is a link where you can buy them online.  1stoptaticalgear.com/glockaces.htm

Pre-ban magazines for the model 19 were available in 17 round capacity. Bsically, it's a 15 round with a two round extension. I have one that is a FML drop free that is like new that I would be willing to part with. If anyone is interested, please send me an email. I can take some pictures and email them to you.

THIOKOL,
Or you could just buy preban Glock 17 mags for your 19. Don't care for either one, adds too much length to the grip. Or you could add the +2s to the Glock 17 mags and have 19 rounders---------

Skimming through here and saw the question about pre-ban mags. I don't agree with the 10 rd law anymore than anyone else here but I refuse to pay $40-100 dollars for 5 extra rds. WHen Pre-bans were over $100 a piece and you could get Glock factory 10 rd mags for $15 I figured I could carry 60-70 rds for the price of 15rds. Paying that much for 1 mag makes no sense to me. Sean,
I have the same problem. No way I need hi-cap mags bad enough to pay $100 for them! I can buy the LE mags for $15 a copy. If not for that, I'd be quite happy with the 10rd mags for the money.

I have to chime in here. The G19 is probably the best package Glock has ever made, but it is a Glock and you have to protect the trigger.

If your cheapo UM holster is that glove-like IWB-rig, don't use it for your Glock. Two problems: (1) It doesn't protect the trigger and (2) your pistol will "squirt out" when you are moving.

If your holster is a hard plastic IWB design, then ignore my ramblings.

If I remember correctly I paid in the high $300 for my 19 when they first came out, that included two pre ban clips. So far I think I've shot less than 1 box of shells through it and every once in awhile I look to see how it's doing.

Hi all,
I'm considering a 9mm for a defense gun.  Currently have Ruger Security Six SS 357.  Too much gun for home in my mind with the potential for way over penetration.  Would like opinions on the 9mm for home defense.   I know I could use 38sp ammo, but am not a real fan of the revolvers.

I can easily handle a 45 but want something my wife will not be afraid to shoot well enough to practice with it.

Are the safeties on the Glock ambedexterious?  What about other brands?  I do NOT want nor can I afford to spend a fortune here either.

Thanks.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

i want to add my two in this
i found an ever so slightly used g19 at a local pawn shop. it has one of the new style tupperware containers so i know it cant be a year old.
and like paladyn im paying 419 for it. i have owned one before and let it get away. the one i owned before was just like all the glocks i have shot, accurate straight out of the box. i just hope this new one is no exception.
