My b-day is coming up, and I want my parents to either buy a scope, and a rimfire .22lr, or one or the other. The scope I want is the Swift Premier 4-12x40 Matte Black, for $115. I have seen alot of reviews with people using these (on tricked out or normal rimfires), and I really like swift scopes. What do you ppl think about the scope suggestion. (I think my parents could swing the $115 no prob.)
Now to the most important part..........the gun. I want the Thompson Center Classic, but it just cost wayyyy to much for my parents to buy me (around $300). So I have narrowed it down to 2 (tell me if you have any other suggestions): Marlin Model 60, or the Ruger 10/22. I am about to have about $100 to spend, but can wait until I have enough for either rifle. The main thing I am looking for is accuracy, and function. I don't want it to jam (although i know it happens to the best of 'um), and I want it to be accurate for hunting situations (probably .5 at 50 yds. would be reasonable [especially with a 12x scope :-D ]) So which one would yall recommend......?? (I can get the marlin 60 for $105, and I am not sure about the ruger 10/22, but I think i can get it for about $145+) The only problem I have with a ruger is the short barrel. Even being a kid (6'1, 155 lb.) it feels too small, is this normal for a rimfire?? I have not held a model 60 yet, but i like the looks of it. IT MUST BE A SEMI-AUTO FOR ME TO EVEN CONSIDER BUYING IT........B/C OF SQUIRREL HUNTING....MAKE SENSE?? Thanx for the help ahead of time.......it is greatly appreciated!!
