Just wondering if anyone has had a chance to shoot the new kimber 1911 pistol in .22lr yet? From the reviews and articles in the gun mags it sounds like it is a great gun. The only complain I have about it would be the price, around $700 us. ooch But it does like like a real sweet looking gun though.

Compared to the Ruger handguns guns which are much cheaper, how would they compare for acuuracy, dependabiity and relibility to the Kmber? What can a ruger mark/II for example get at 25 yards for accuracy?

I looked one over and found it to be ridiculously light. It feels toy-like in compairison to an actual steel 1911. If I were to spend that much money on a 22 pistol I would get a Smith 41. In fact I have the Smith 41. Or if you already have a 1911 centerfire the Marvel 22 conversion is highly praised and very accurate.

What can a ruger mark/II for example get at 25 yards for accuracy?

Scoped my Ruger MKII to test accuracy - was not very difficult to get an entire magazine - 10 rounds - into one ragged hole from the bench. Even the groups with "fliers" were very good. In an accuracy contest I would take my MKII over the Kimber any day.

hOW MUCH WOULD THE MARVEL .22 conversion COST, AND CAN YOU GET IT for the beretta model 92 f in stainless I wonder? anyone know the type of accuracy one could get from a marvel .22?

I echo the previous post. It is too light to be used as a rimfire surrogate for the 1911 in 45acp. It weighs about a pound less. If I wanted to practice with a rimfire version of the 1911 I would want it identical in all respects, and weight is an important factor. I also agree that the Marvel conversion is, bar none, the best option for those who can afford it.

I have two good friends that shoot marvel target conversions on 1911 frames for rimfire silhouette. Both are capable of cleaning sets of targets up to and including the 100 rams. They are equally capable of chewing up an X ring @ 50'. VERY fine shooting top ends. They run around $350 if memory serves. Considering one for my S&W 1911.
