Is there such a thing as a 30-30 necked down to a 270? Is there anything close? Seems like i dont see many loadings for the 270 bullet. Seems like it would work good, and i'm sure its been done. Tad

I don't have any experience with it, but virgin valley has the 270x30-30 on their chambering list.

6.5 jdj and 6.5 bullberry and 7/30 waters are close to a 270/30-30 The simple fact is there are many more bullets in the other calibers than in 270. I've seen 30-30 cases necked from 22 to 35 cal.I think the 375 Win is also based on the 30-30. If you got the $ some one will build you one

Until the recent advent of the new 6.8mm Remington round most all .277" bullets were designed with the .270 Win. or .270 Whby. in a rifle in mind. This means performance on game of them in a smller round from a handgun is questionable.

The .30-30 case improved and the .225 Win. case are very similar in size BUT the .225 is a much stronger case. SSK offers the .270 JDJ on the .225 Case I believe.

The new bullets becoming available for the 6.8 Rem. might make this a more viable hunting round for the future.
