« on: August 19, 2004, 04:59:54 AM »
I am thinking of trying a shoot and have the rifle, sxs, vaquero 45colt but
can't afford another 45. I do however have a 32H&R single six,could I use
this as my second hand gun? Thanks Aaron

Howdy Aaron,

Sure it could..but, I can't imagine that you wouldn't have several folks trying to loan you a match for your Vaquero.  Have you made contact with your local club(s)?  If not, that is my suggested next move.

Still, it's good to know that you can make the game with what you got.

Thanks for the FAST response. I went to a mounthly shoot in Tn. back in
2000 with only the vaqureo and 150 rounds of 45 and a box or two of both
20 and 12ga (the suggested amount from the web site)and my holster.
I followed one possie(sp) all morning and never got an offer so I decided all the offers I read about on the web were bunk and kind of lost interest,
then a couple years later it finally dawned on me that all my 45 loads were
RELOADS and I would be real uneasy turning my guns loose to someone with UNKNOWN RELOADS myself. The people were great other wise.Since
then I have aquired the rifle and SXS and want to give it a go. I might give it a try with my irons but take a box of factory cowboy loads incase I get a loan offer this time around (I'm really not a jerk-don't beleive the wife) Thanks again Aaron

We solve that problem by loaning gun and ammo.  Since most of us reload there really isn't much $$ involved.  I figure I'm loading 100 .45 Colt cartridges for about 3 1/2  cents.  Gotta remember I'm casting my own bullets, though.

I've gotten about 4 new cowboy shooters doing this.  Would make me proud but they all out shoot me

Howdy Aaron,

Let me suggest that you call or email the local club you plan to attend.  There are usually a few folks who are willing to help, but sometimes just showing up puts a bit of a strain on folks.  If they have two sets of guns loaned out, they may just not have anything else to give.

Always call ahead... it helps folks plan for you and your needs.
