Howdy Cuts,
Just read your capping article in the Chronicle.  I learned a bunch from it, proving you're never too old to learn new stuff.

Did you ever get any feeling back in the thumb?  I mangled my left palm when I tried to "catch a radio control plane back in '71 (another hobby of mine) and over the years the feeling came back.  Also ran index, middle and ring finger tips of both hands through a table saw (I love power tools) and only my left middle finger still has no feeling.

Howdy Cheyenne!

Nope, never got the feeling back. :(  The thumb still functions ok, but I cain't feel a thing from the knuckle to the tip. There's a nerve bundle that runs down the bone on the inside radius of the thumb and the Docs tell me that it was burned bad enuff that it would never regenerate. In an interesting aside, I had an x-ray done of my hand after an accident about two years ago and it shows what must be a  cap fragment lodged in the meat near the base of my thumb next to the bone. Never knew it was there until I saw the x-ray film.

And jist fer fun: On anuther board a pard asked me if it wuz ok to cap wif his teeth. I tol' him NOPE!....
