Encore SS barrel lug had zits!

Tried to buy a 24 inch SS Encore .270 barrel Saturday and my regular dealer only had one.  Unfortunately it had a lot of small pock marks on the lug area that would not show but it still bugged me enough, I did not buy the barrel.

I had several choices of where to buy this barrel and the prices ranged from $233 - $255.  Decided to go elsewhere after my dealer said it was "normal."

Now I would agree that an occasional bubble hole seems normal but this was completely rough  on all sides of the lower unit.  Sure wish my dealer had had another barrel or had offered another solution.  His statement and indifference to my wishes put a strain on our relationship -- and also cost him a sale since I bought elsewhere and for less cost.

Not just grousing -- wondering how many of you have barrels with this finish problem and what you would have done in the situation.

You've got Eds TC right there in OK. You should have taken a ride to his place. Years ago I would not have noticed the flaw in my excitement, but today I wouldhave passed on it also. Gun dealers around here are real assholes. With no personality. They all act like they are doing YOU a favor. Don't know why that is. Once you have a frame you can get most TC stuff mail order. That's what I would do.

Based on my experiences, I think I would prefer to see the barrel before it arrives in the mail and the deal is done.  

Had one arrived by mail that looked like the offered barrel with the pock problems, I would have had to re-mail it and wait on another until the replacement came back.

TC has been very, very good to me and solved every one of my problems like missing screws, but it sounds like the tradeout norm is multiple weeks and I really don't want to wait that long should the need ever arise.

I do appreciate what you are saying but as picky as I am, I will most often want to see the barrel before plopping down $250-350.  If I ever trade for one on line or over the phone, I will ask lots of questions before committing.
