Got  a pretty good deal on this old single shot today, but I'm wondering when it was made - no serial number, not grooved for scope mounts, but marked "Savage arms company ..." Anybody know? Are there any resources available to help a fellow out? Thanks

I bought one for my oldest daughter about 25 years ago.  It's about as simple a .22 as a man could ask for.  They were built for a price but gave tremendous VALUE for the dollar.  The most beat up one I ever saw belonged to a farmer that also ran a trapline, it would have graded maybe 30 or 40 %.  If I stumble upon a nice clean one I'll  pick it up just because.  Have fun with yours.......Essex
