factory 44 mag ammo

I know this was probably asked a hundred times before so  here's the 101st
I'm new to deer hunting with a revolver raging bull 44 mag 83/8 inch barrel. I'm looking to find some good factory ammo for it. I've heard hornady was good also so was cor-bon, and I had speer gold dot recommended to me the other day, but I see by reading some of the post that the gold dot would be more suited for larger game. any help on this would be greatly appreciated thanks split

I see some potential in the PMC Truncated Soft Point in 240 gr.

It shoots well and should hit with a wallop.

I wish I could get these bullets for reloading but have not yet found them.  Am currently loading 240 gr. Hornady XTPs.  Over 17.6 grains of Alliant 2400 they are a pleasure to shoot and accurate too.

I would not hesitate to use this on a deer or coyote or hog, although I want to shoot some wet phone books to see penetration.

What about the 240 grain Winchesters from Wally World? Will they work on Mulies? Scott

My favorite deer load for the .44 Magnum and the one I've used to take a bunch of deer is a 240 grain Hornady XTP or Nosler 240 JHP over 24.0 grains of W296.

Hornady factory loads duplicate this to near perfection. That is the load I recommend for deer.

Take a look at the Remington bullets. To me they look that that truncated cone bullet of which you speak. Personally I've never cared for the RP bullets in .44 Mag as I've never been able to get them to shoot accurately in my guns. Others say they have.

Sure. IF you put them where they belong.

The Winchester 250 grain load has worked extremely well for me. The Partition Gold seems to be the most accurate in my guns. Both the Ruger & the Smith.
