what kind of rest?

I'm new to the Contender. If there's no solid rest around, what do you use, I tried  homemade shooting sticks, but the gun wobbles so much, accurate shooting is impossible.  Any suggestions?   Thanks

I have a set of steady stix that I use, but before I had them I used my Uncle Mikes size 13 holster once.

i think my best shooting aid is the 1" - 1 1/4" nylon sling. it steadies me up very good, and i feel confident to a reasonable range. possibly up to 150 yards, but that will have to be determined at each individual shot.
the "super sling" by outdoor connection is the one i use, as it will shorten up adequately, and is easily adjustable. got it at wal-mart.

i attach it to the walnut grip, by using the wood screw type sling stud. i attach at the contender forearm by replacing the front forearm screw with a machine thread type stud. on the encore, i install into the wood forend, out on the angled tip at the end of the forearm.

let the loop of the correctly adjusted sling, go behind the left elbow, while holding the forearm with the left hand. apply outward pressure with the left arm, and slight opposing pressure with the grip hand. works great for me

you could also try adding a third leg to your shooting stix. that would help considerably, i'd think.

all depends on the range, and what game you are after. varmints and longer ranges should give you more time to set up. the sling works good in eastern woods deer hunting, imo.

Tree Stand Rest

I use a rest that attaches to the tree when using a climber.  It costs about 11.00.  The majority of the cost is the 7.00 "T" screw that is used to attach it to the tree.  It will pivot in three places so you can move it around depending on where the deer comes out.  Come to think of it, it looks lie the video camera support arm they are selling in Cabelas that holds the video camera while you are shooting.  I will post a pic when I get back to my computer.

The rest of the time I use homeade steady stix or a monopod.

nope, but it's really simple. i should have added that it is just a standard rifle sling, but shortened nearly as short as it will go. it should be 24"-30" long when laid out flat.
hmmmmm :?  i think it's in my avatar pic at hh.com, but you can hardly see it in the picture. camo

ohhhh......lets see   i'll keep thinkin here...n
