What's it worth? $300? $400

I have a first gen single action 45 colt beveled cylinder front, screw in front of frame to hold cylinder pin ,bullseye ejector ,cylinder bushing,one piece wood grips 7 1/2 barrel. Perfect condition except for holster wear.Timming is flawless.I shot this gun over 1000 times and there is still no ring on the cylinder from the bolt rubbing on it. OH ! before you quote a price, maybe I should tell ya it's made by Uberti and imported by EMF as the HARTFORD MODEL :wink: I just read a article it GOTW where a feller got a new Colt and had to have custom work on it to get what I got on mine out of the box. I lightened the main spring on mine a tad and fired it alot and the action is as smooth as butter.Ive had 2nd. and 3rd gen. Colts and none of them were as well fitted and timed as this repro from Uberti. I had a Uberti Cattleman back in the 70's that was good but not as nice as this Hartford Model. How many of you got a Uberti Hartford Model ? And is you'rs  this good? or did I just get the pick of the litter?

Hard to say if "you just got lucky" or not - it may be just how you treat your guns.  You may take abit more care than others......

I have two (2) AWA Longhorns that have had the 'RB Rooson 2000 round action job' (that is to say - put 2000 rounds through them and they get real smooth......).  I find normal wear on the handguns is the best action job in the long run.

By the way, I just don't know anymore who makes what......seems like Uberti makes everybody else's guns......Beretta has a couple of different brands out......and who does the Pietta's?  Who makes (or should we say made) the AWA's?  Who did the Liberty II's?

I'm confused.....think I'll got shoot 2000 more rounds and smooth another gun up!!!!

Howdy,

I suspect that most of the Ubertis (and other replicas) are good guns.  Considering that there are thousands and thousands sold every year, with most being used regularly, if they were all as poorly fitted as the few horrible examples found now and then, all the gunsmiths I know would be driving Caddies and Humvees, which they are not.

Still, a well timed gun is a thing of beauty and a thrill to shoot.  I'll post my rambling recollections about who made what for whom, another time.

Doooh!  Missed the question in your title..

Right now, the market is a bit ragged.  If someone can handle your gun, it might reach towards $400.  Online, I'd suggest $350 would be tops and $300 if you need to sell it quickly.  I see a lot of $325 with shipping paid guns out there.. no takers.  Bt you never know when you're going to find the right buyer.

I have an EMF Hartford that I think the world of.  It's the best shooting .45 I have ever owned, and that includes several Rugers!  The action is smooth and the timing is perfect.  The early Hartfords were made by Armi San Marco, same as the American Western Arms.  Now that ASM is gone, EMF gets their Hartfords from Uberti.  I paid only $225 for this one used, as it was out of time.  The former owner had tried to do his own trigger job, and in stoning the top of the trigger, he shortened it too much and put the gun out of time.  I replaced the trigger and put in a wolff mainspring.  Used guns seem to have increased in value around here.  A used Cimarron or Hartford now runs about $350 and a Peacekeeper about $400.  44 Man
