HANGING MY HEAD IN SHAME

Well after over 30 some odd years of looking down on anyone who would stoop to putting a scope on a HANDGUN!!  I just ordered a 2x scope to mount on a 8 3/8 model 29 :oops: (HEY I'M NOT GETTING OLDER !!!) It's just that the woods are darker than they use to be before I hit 40 :shock: . How many other of you all noticed that about the light in the woods getting dimmer? And how many  of you have no shame and put a scope on a HANDGUN like you'rs truly? :cry: --Willy

I have no shame at all, and my eyes have not gotten to the point of really needing a scope yet.  I do however shoot much better with a scope on a handgun.  About 80% of my handguns are scoped.  I do play around with some open sights, but I just shoot much better with a scope.

Shame would be someone being stubborn and not using a scope even if they shoot better with it.

You have a obligation as a hunter to harvest an animal as humainly as possible.  If that means a scope, then so be it.

I never had any shame either. I love a scoped handgun. I have a couple of non-scoped handguns, but most of them are for concealed carry.  :D

Putting a Scope on a handgun is kind of like putting catsup on a popsickle :)  BUT Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.  I'm there with ya.... Is there a seeing eye dog program for the iron sighted impaired :-D

Not me. I put a dot sight on mine. :)  I started wearing glasses and they somehow fixed the dot. It's round and sharp again. :shock:

if i look real hard i can find a superblackhawk with a 2x leupold hidnt in the back of the safe where none of my friends can see it.

I scope my handguns by cracky, and if them young whippersnappers think they can outshoot me then by golly I'll just drive my buggy out to the range and show'm a thing or two!!

They can insert contact lens's into your eye now. Around 3,000 for each eye.

almost all my handguns have scopes on them. the only ones that don't are my 3 inch ruger sp101, my 14 inch 7 tcu, and my 10 inch 45/410 ( with true sights)

7 months ago my eyes where 20/200 in each eye. Now my left eye is 20/20 and my right eye is 20/25

I use to use contacts but never really liked them (don't need them anymore) because I always  had trouble with them when hunting and they tend to move on me att eh worst time.

Scopes on my handguns offer me a big advantage over open sights, If I should loose a contact or dropped my glasses I could adjust the scope to be clear and still make the shot count.
 I have found that my 2x leupold scopes makes things look darker in the woods in low light.

I scoped my SBH .44 Bisley just to work up an accurate load then take it off.
I sure hope I don't get to liking it with the scope on :-D

:oops: I can put 6 rounds in a metal machinegun plate @ 100 yards rapid fire with a red dot sight over a 44mag Bisley hunter.  I wouldn't be able to do that with iron.  One shot, maybe, I know that's all I need.  I use a red dot sight because like yourself I can hit the target if I can see the sights.  I learned on a blackpowder rifle hunt w/ iron that the woods don't always apply light on the sights and missed the biggest buck of my life.  Never again.  A scope is still not my bag, but I "see" your point. :-)

If they didn't improve the eficiencey of a hand gun there wouldn't be so many choices. bushnell/nikon/leupold/tasco/burris/redfiels etc.

:cb2: I remember when I passed 50 I could still see my iron sights as clear as a bell, so why would I need a scope?

Hmmm . . . Probably because for some reason everthing else bout a foot past my sights got pretty dang fuzzy! (I knew the deer was out there--I could hear it laughing at me.)

Before I put a scope of one of my pistols I thought I had a very solid hold on my pistol.  After mounting a scope I found out that hold was not as solid as I thought.  The key is to pull the trigger at the right time.

Be not ashamed. I put one on my Ruger .480.
 I'm thinking of putting on on my .44, or at least a red dot.  


Now if I can get those Ruger rings to keep from shooting loose...
