What bullet weight in short-barreled 222?

I'm preparing to develop a load for a 14 inch Contender in 222 Rem.  I know that when firing rifle cartridges in handgun-length barrels, faster powders generally give more uniform velocities.  But does bullet weight have much effect on getting consistent velocity?  I really don't have a specific purpose for this barrel, i.e., varmint hunting, punching paper, etc.  I just want to work up an accurate load.  By the way, the twist rate is 1:12, if that matters.  These are the 22 bullets I have on hand:  Speer 50 grain TNT and 45 gr soft point;  Sierra 40 & 45 grain hornet and 63 grain semi-pointed;  Hornady 52 grain A-Max.  I plan on using H4198 or AA2015BR.  Thanks for any input you might have.

Barrel lenth really dosen`t matter, it`s twist rate that determins what weight bullet you should shoot. With a 1 in. 12 you will probibly get your best accuracy with bullets in the 55 grn. range. With the bullets you listed I would guess that your best accuracy will be with the 52 grn. bullets. That said, different barrels that should be identical sometimes like different bullets, who knows why???
