Some interesting info about Iraq
« on: August 28, 2004, 11:29:14 PM »
IRAQ - VERY INTERESTING - DID YOU KNOW?

1. The garden of Eden was in Iraq.
2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq, was the cradle of civilization!
3. Noah built the ark in Iraq.
4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq.
5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq!
6. Isaac's wife Rebekah is from Nahor, which is in Iraq.
7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq.
8. Jonah preached in Nineveh - which is in Iraq.
9. Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the ten tribes of Israel.
10. Amos cried out in Iraq!
11. Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem.
12. Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq!
13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq (Jesus had been in Iraq also as the fourth person in the fiery furnace!)
14. Belshazzar, the King of Babylon saw the "writing on the wall" in Iraq.
15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews captive into Iraq.
16. Ezekiel preached in Iraq.
17. The wise men were from Iraq.
18. Peter preached in Iraq.
19. The "Empire of Man" described in Revelation is called Babylon, which was a city in Iraq!

And you have probably seen this one. Israel is the nation most often mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is Iraq! However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible. The names used in the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and Mesopotamia. The word Mesopotamia means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. The name Iraq, means country with deep roots.

Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in the Bible.

No other nation, except Israel, has more history and prophecy associated it than Iraq.

And here's something to think about! Since America is represented by an eagle, Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages...

The following verse is from the Koran (the Islamic Bible):

Koran (9:11) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair, still more rejoiced; for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace.

(Note the verse number!)

Squirrelsaurus Rex:  Hay, it's been a while since we heard from you - hope all is well.  Those are some very interesting points you have brought up about Irag.  That place seems to have been a hotbed of trouble for quite a while now.  And, that passage from the Koran was just so incredible.  Sort of makes one wonder if all of this hadn't been thought out long ago.  Thanks.  Mikey.

Koran 9:11 Refers to the American Military Action in Iraq-Fiction!

 Summary of the eRumor
A verse in the Koran, which happens to correspond to the date of the Attack on America, predicts that "the wrath of the Eagle" would be felt throughout the lands of Allah.

 The Truth
This is a hoax.
The quote is not from anywhere in the Koran (or Quran).
Chapter 9 verse 11 actually says "But if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, they are your brethren in faith; and we make the communications clear for a people who know."  (M. H. Shakir translation)

And yes, Tubby, I personally checked the Koran to confirm this.
It is the duty of the good citizen to love his country and hate his gubmint.

I got the same reply (about that verse being a hoax) on another website I posted that on, so I'll put the same reply here:  I have a copy of the Koran I bought from an Arab trader in the desert 13 years ago (some of them care about money more than anything else). Those guys try to take you for all your worth. He wanted to buy my M16 for $30, but I told him it would cost him at least five camels, so he backed down.

I didn't check the verse, because I didn't know if there might be more than one version with different verse numbers or whatever. It was just something I got in an email. I figured someone would check it after I posted it anyway.

I think the rest of the stuff is true, but I'm not about to investigate each point. The name 'cradle of civilization' is from the area between the Tigris and Euphrates, which was the location of the earliest known cities in history. The area was known back then as Mesopotamia. The whole region (which is where Bagdad is located) is now in present-day Iraq

As far as "prophesies" from the Koran....one cannot expect a Christian to accept them verbatim... any more than they accept the NT verbatim..

There is plenty of  commanded violence in the regular translation of the Koran to lead us to understand the "peaceful Muslim" ambivilance..
No need to read hoaxes...just a plain reading of a good translation will prove where all the hate and violence appear to come from.
